| I just can't seem to catch a break driving. Had the ice incident. Drove to Clinton the other night to visit Sid and got a speeding ticket there. Heavy fog coming back, heavier than I've ever seen it. Took a wrong turn heading out of town, realized it, but figured I'd be better off continuing on to Lincoln and then getting on the interstate rather than turning around and hoping to find the right road out of Clinton in a fog so heavy I couldn't see more than 2 car lengths ahead of me. Tonight I drove to Lincoln in heavy fog. About halfway there it started raining heavily. Visibility was literally zero for a couple seconds at several different points. Most of the time it was nearly zero. I was just lucky that there was a car driving infront of me with its blinkers on that I could just barely make out much of the time.

| I thought work might be canceled on friday due to the snow. Unfortunately it was not. I did make it to work...but I spun out on the interstate going 45 and almost hit a bridge support. That's the closest I've ever come to a legitimate crash. Fortunately, the other cars on the road were far enough back that they weren't an issue. Strangely, I wasn't as initially concerned about my safety or my car. Rather, I was more angry about having to go to work. Not sure what that says about me.

| There is a great deal for me to be thankful for. Good home, good family, good roommates, good job, good friends, emotional stability, intelligence, good news on the political front, things to do/places to see, good movies and games, etc. I don't mind attention but I don't crave it. Yet another thing to be thankful for.

| Huckabee wins! And by 9 points too. A lot better than anyone was expecting. On to New Hampshire. This hurts Romney big time seeing as how he spent millions and spent tons of time in Iowa. If he gets beat by McCain in New Hampshire (which is a very real possibility) he's done. It'll be interesting to see how Huckabee and McCain compete as they've been very buddy-buddy.
A word on the Democrats Primary. Congratulations to Senator Obama. Of course I am not supporting him and disagree with him on a lot of things, but it is kind of exciting to have a guy from Illinois winning. Edwards surprised me with his second place (projected) showing. As for Clinton, she's in a very close third which doesn't knock her out by any means...but it does end the myth of the inevitable candidate. This thing is wide open.

| Well another year has come and gone. 2007 had its ups and downs. I think it was a little better than 2006 overall. For one thing, would have been impossible for anyone to predict the events of 2007. I lived in DC, got a fulltime job, am living in a house (not an apartment) in springfield, got a girlfriend (though shortlived) etc. Many many changes.
For the second year in a row, we've had a New Years eve party over in Bluebell and we've had some champagne. Last year only Holly and I had any. Maybe that's because we're the oldest? This year, we both did but so did two members of our crew who weren't in attendance last year. I like champagne, but I don't like any other kind of wine. Go figure.
Iowa caucus is tomorrow...we'll see how it goes.
